The Fort Collins Local History Archive has something for everyone. Admission to the Archive is always free.

Whether you are writing a research paper on local history, interested in seeing what Old Town looked like 100 years ago, or curious about the history of your home or family, the Local History Archive is the place for you. The Archive is open to the public, and the friendly staff is happy to answer questions and assist both new and experienced researchers.

Researching the history of your home? You can use the Archive's city directories, dating from 1902 to the present, to trace who lived in a house over time. The Archive also has thousands of original tax assessor record cards covering many Fort Collins neighborhoods, as well as preservation surveys and reference books on historic architecture.

Interested in a certain person or family who lived in Fort Collins? The Archive has hundreds of biographical files of information on local personalities in addition to many transcribed oral histories of local citizens. Researchers can also search through obituaries, filed by last name, that have been collected from 1977 to the present.

Simply curious about the history of the city? Peruse newspaper microfilm, files on various local places and events, historic maps, rare books, special collections of journals and scrapbooks, and thousands of historic photographs that help tell the story of Fort Collins.

The Local History Archive also has extensive online offerings. Explore our website at http://history.poudrelibraries.org.
